What is It?

The implementation of a WorkOne system was mandated under the federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1998. Local boards were established by WIA to oversee and direct workforce development activities in what are designated as Workforce Service Areas.

Each Workforce Service Area must have at least one full service WorkOne center, and may have what are designated as WorkOne Express centers throughout the workforce service area. The WorkOne is a cooperative effort that includes a consortium of partner agencies working together to develop a seamless delivery and referral system. The local consortium partners are:

    • Department of Workforce Development
    • Indiana State University
    • Ivy Tech Community College
    • Office of Vocational Rehabilitation
    • Terre Haute Housing Authority
    • Vigo County School Corporation
    • Western Indiana Employment and Training Services, Inc.
    • Western Indiana Community Action Agency
